Aamir Khan Clarifies After AI-Generated Poster Depicting Him as Guru Nanak Goes Viral

adminBy adminApril 29, 2025

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has issued a clarification after an AI-generated image portraying him as Guru Nanak, the revered founder of Sikhism, went viral on social media, sparking both admiration and concern.

The digitally created poster, which surfaced over the weekend, showed Aamir Khan in a turban and traditional attire commonly associated with Sikh Gurus, accompanied by a serene background and stylized text that appeared to promote an upcoming film. The image was widely circulated, with many mistaking it for a genuine promotional poster of a biopic starring Khan as Guru Nanak.

However, the poster was not affiliated with any real project.

Taking to his official social media handles, Aamir Khan clarified:

“I want to sincerely thank everyone for their kind messages regarding the AI-generated poster. However, I want to clarify that I am not involved in any film related to Guru Nanak Ji. The image circulating is not an official poster and has no connection to any current or future project of mine.”

He further added,

“I have immense respect for Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the Sikh community. It is important that historical and spiritual figures are depicted with the utmost respect and sensitivity. I request everyone to refrain from sharing or endorsing misleading content.”

The image had initially gained traction for its lifelike detail and cinematic design, leading some fans to speculate that a film announcement was imminent. However, it also drew criticism from religious groups who expressed concern about the use of AI to depict sacred figures, warning of potential misinterpretations and unintended offense.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), while appreciating Aamir Khan’s clarification, urged the public to be cautious about content generated by artificial intelligence. “Using AI to recreate revered Gurus can be misleading and must be avoided unless handled with the appropriate religious sensitivity and consultation,” the SGPC spokesperson stated.

This incident highlights a growing challenge in the digital age: the viral spread of AI-generated content and its potential to blur the lines between reality and fiction. Experts are calling for increased digital literacy and ethical guidelines to govern the use of AI in culturally sensitive contexts.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan continues work on his upcoming production projects, none of which, as he confirmed, involve portraying religious figures.

Public reaction to his statement has largely been positive, with many applauding Khan’s timely response and respectful tone. Social media users urged others to verify content before sharing, especially when it involves religious icons or historical personalities.
