February 24, 2025

Islamabad witnessed an unexpected yet passionate celebration as Virat Kohli’s fans in the Pakistani capital rejoiced after the Indian cricket star smashed a stunning century against their own national team. Cricket Beyond Borders

Despite the historic and fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan, Kohli enjoys a massive fan following in Pakistan, thanks to his exceptional batting skills, sportsmanship, and consistency over the years. As he reached his century, several pockets of Islamabad erupted in applause, with cricket lovers hailing his brilliance, despite their own team being at the receiving end.

Videos and images circulating on social media showed groups of Pakistani fans clapping, cheering, and even bursting crackers in admiration of Kohli’s feat. Some fans gathered in cafes and homes, watching the match on big screens, celebrating his every boundary with enthusiasm.

Social Media Erupts

Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook saw an outpouring of admiration from Pakistani cricket lovers. Hashtags like #KingKohli and #RespectForKohli trended, with many Pakistani fans posting messages praising his masterclass innings. A Pakistani fan tweeted, “Hats off to Virat Kohli! A century against Pakistan is never easy, and he played like a true legend.” Another wrote, “We might support different teams, but talent should always be appreciated. Kohli is a gem!”

Not the First Time

This isn’t the first instance of Kohli receiving love from Pakistani fans. Over the years, he has been appreciated for his humility and camaraderie with Pakistani cricketers, such as Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. In previous encounters, his exceptional performances have earned him applause from both Indian and Pakistani fans alike.

Cricket as a Unifier

Despite the political tensions between India and Pakistan, cricket continues to serve as a bridge between the people of both nations. Kohli’s latest century was yet another example of how sports can transcend borders, fostering mutual respect and admiration.

While the defeat may have been disappointing for Pakistan’s supporters, their appreciation of Kohli’s innings proved that true cricket fans can recognize greatness, regardless of nationality.
